Holding a card lets you buy and possess cannabis — but it does not let you use it anywhere you like. Oklahoma keeps consumption private.

Where use is allowed

  • Your own home, or a private residence where the owner permits it.
  • Cannabis-friendly lodging — some short-term rentals allow use; confirm with the host first.

Where use is prohibited

  • Public places — sidewalks, parks, streets, and parking lots, including dispensary lots.
  • Vehicles on public roads (and see our DUI guide).
  • Schools, and any federal property such as military bases or national parks.

A note for visitors

If you’re traveling, plan where you’ll consume before you buy. Hotels frequently ban smoking, and public use is an offense. Picking up a product? Find a licensed dispensary near you in the directory, and keep consumption to private property.
